Thrifty Thursday: 7 Ways to Redecorate on a Dime

I always find I get a little stir crazy in the winter months and that's when I want to switch things up.  It's easy to get tired of looking at the same scenery in your home each day.  But you don't need to spend a fortune to change things up and get a new look.  Check out these frugal ways to spruce things up and bring that dazzle back to your home without breaking the bank:

7 Ways to Redecorate on a Dime

1.  Switch it Up - by far the cheapest way to change the look of a room is simply rearranging.  Move your big pieces of furniture around and maybe even switch up the art work.  It'll make it feel like a whole new space and it won't cost a thing! (and you'll even be able to do a big pre-spring clean at the same time)

2.  Pretty Pillows - a super simple way to recharge your space is by changing your pillows.  Get some new throw pillows for the couch  or bedroom in bold colours & patterns. Or try some pillow covers or even sewing your own for an even thriftier transformation.

3.  Liven Up Old Furniture - tired of looking at that old bookcase or those tired end tables?  Don't toss them; give them some new life with a coat of paint.  Try your hand at some chalk paint in a bright colour or adding new hardware or trim to a well loved piece.  It'll look brand new without spending a ton !

4.  Lovely Linens - bored with your bedroom? Is the bathroom looking less than beautiful? Why not get some new towels or a duvet cover?  Maybe a fresh shower curtain and bathmat or a funky window dressing? These simple and relatively inexpensive changes will have you loving your spaces again in no time.

5.  Get Your Paint On - another frugal way to add a little zest to your space is with a coat of paint and some good old fashioned elbow grease.  Is your office or studio feeling like a cave? Transform it with a coat of paint.  If time is of the essence, why not just paint an accent wall?  Pick one wall and get creative...maybe a pop of colour is just what the doctor ordered.

6.  Spray Paint Style - always a great staple are a few cans of spray paint.  You don't need to spend a lot to add some dazzle to your decor.  How about a collection of bottles painted out in white on your mantle? Or maybe grab some tacky plastic animals from the dollar store and coat them in some wild colours.  You'll have a designer look for just a couple bucks.

7.  Get Arty - a fun & frugal way to breathe new life into a room is with some great artwork.  And you don't have to spend a fortune either.  Grab a couple canvases from your art store and get those creative juices flowing. Or how about re-purposing an old window frame or painting from the thrift store into something funky?  And when you're feeling like another change....just paint right over it!
