On Thursday we thought we were set after seeing a cute, but dated, ranch in a great neighbourhood. So we pulled up our socks and put in an offer. Only to receive a miserable counter offer that sent a rather strong message. I wouldn't have been so irked, but this house needed some serious upgrades; new roof, new windows, new electrical, new appliances and lots more. We're talking about 30k in renovations at a minimum, so I was more than a little shocked when they wouldn't budge on the price.
Luckily we have a pretty awesome Real Estate Agent who came over late on Thursday to share the news of the disappointing counter offer. We decided at that point we weren't going to play ball and walked away from the house. Yup. We said too bad, we'll take our money elsewhere.
We've been on 24 hour house hunt mode this past week. I've have next to no time in front of the computer in the past between working, kids and going to look at prospective properties just about every night. I'm here, still, frustrated and annoyed and not really wanting to look at anymore houses. I'm going to curl up in front of the fire with a glass of wine and Netflix and try to forget about it.
As our wise Realtor said on Thursday:
"If it's meant to be, it will be."
I really hope that's true.
