New Month, New Goals

Hello October!

Pumpkins, falling leaves, Thanksgiving and more... October always tends to be a nice change for me; transitioning into those wonderful Autumn clothes and comforting meals and working on new mountains to climb.

So this month I'm setting some new goals to keep me on track and focused. It seems that the last week of September has left me unfocused, drained and full of procrastination.  But starting today...that all changes!

What's on my list this month?

Number 1: my first 10km race is THIS WEEKEND! Ahh! Time to get a couple more small runs in before the big day on Sunday.  There's no way I'm letting all my hard work from the past 2 months slip away before my big race.

Next on the list is writing my first exam for the Registered Holistic Nutritionist program.  I've only got a couple giant chapters to finish before this exam and I need to focus and toss my fears aside and dig in.  I don't know why I've been hesitant on finishing the last couple chapters on Vitamins and Minerals...maybe it's their size or the shear magnitude of the information but I have been avoiding these final pages.  But no more! Time to bust out the highlighter and notebooks and get 'r done!

And finally, today will mark the start of Sober October. Yup, you heard right...I'm not going to drink any alcohol this month.  I'm choosing to do this for a couple of reasons. First off, my husband has vowed not to drink all month in an effort to drop a few pounds off the beer belly for an upcoming wedding we're attending and I thought I would be nice and support his efforts.  I'm also doing it as an exercise in self control and discipline.  The warm summer nights were perfect for a beer or glass of wine and we definitely carried that habit too far. Not to mention the amount of money you can spend just by having a drink or two each week.  And I wouldn't mind cutting out some unnecessary liquid calories too!

So there you have it.  Now that I've written it, it's official...right? How about you? What are you planning to tackle this month? What are your biggest hurdles to meeting those goals?
